From the Horse's Mouth

Greetings from the Waldemar barn!
The horses sure are enjoying the beautiful green grass that we now have even though it is mid-fall. If any of you campers rode “Dusti,” the new black appaloosa mare, we have a surprise. The previous owner told us there was a very slim chance she could be pregnant when we bought her in May. Well … she has just contributed a new addition to the Waldemar horse family. He is a solid black colt named “Trader Joe.” We also have two half-siblings to “Doolittle,” the cute paint colt born in May, who should be arriving before camp next summer.

In polocrosse news, the U.S. Nationals were held in Parker, Texas, at the South Fork Ranch … yes, where the Dallas TV series was filmed … just north of Dallas, at the beginning of October. We had several players from Waldemar attending. Catherine Pickens, Chris Pickens, and Robert Pohl played together in the A grade. I played in the B grade with Megan Delgado and Rachel Meriwether. Sam Pohl also played in the B grade on another team. Tina Longman, former wrangler, and Olivia Flores, 2nd term camper, played in the D grade on different teams. Sam’s team won the B Division national title. Sam was riding “Cotton” who won the prize for Best Horse in the B Division and Sam won the Best and Fairest Player Award in the B Division. We had a great time!

The American Polocrosse Association is participating in the second Polocrosse World Cup to be held in Queensland, Australia, in April 2007. Catherine Pickens has made the eight-person playing team for the second time to represent the United States. This event is the Olympic equivalent for polocrosse. The team was announced November 1. Check the APA web site for more information on this exciting event, www.americanpolocrosse.org. The APA is also raising funds by accepting tax-deductible sponsorships for the player of your choice.
I guess that is all the news from the barn for now. Catherine and I are looking forward to seeing everyone next summer!

HAPPY TRAILS AS ALWAYS!
Liz
